Claus Bachert, MD, PhD is Head of the Upper Airways Research Laboratory and Chief of Clinics in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology of Ghent University Hospital, Ghent, Belgium. He is also a professor and senior consultant at the Division of Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases, CLINTEC, Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden.
Prof. Dr. Bachert’s research interests include the pathophysiology and management of diseases of the nose and sinuses, including allergic rhinitis, chronic rhinosinusitis, and nasal polyposis.
Prof. Dr. Bachert is on the Board of Directors and the Scientific Committee of Allergic Rhinitis and its Impact on Asthma (ARIA) and is Co-Chair of the European Position Paper on Rhinosinusitis and Nasal Polyps (EPOS) group. In addition, he is a partner in the Global Allergy and Asthma European Network (GA2LEN) and PreDicta research programs. He has published over 700 peer-reviewed articles in international journals, and received several national and international awards and two honorary doctorates (Capital Medical University Beijing, China and Democritus University of Thrace, Greece). Prof. Dr. Bachert currently serves as Editor for the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.
